1200 Chefs Gather In Dallas Fair Park To Compete In World Food Championships – CBS Dallas / Fort Worth

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – Some of the best chefs in the world competed at Dallas Fair Park over the weekend for the World Food Championships.

The competition is the biggest in the food sport and is sometimes referred to as the Olympic Games for Chefs.

Over 1,200 professional and amateur chefs took part. The competition started on Friday and ends on Tuesday.

However, Sunday was the last day for the public viewing.

“We have chefs from over 40 different states,” said Mike McCloud, CEO of the World Food Championship. “They all come to be discovered.”

All participating chefs have pre-qualified to participate in the competition by winning other cooking events.

“To get to this championship at all, you have to qualify somewhere in the world,” said McCloud.

From barbecue to burger, there are 10 cooking categories in which you can compete.

In addition to watching the cooks, attendees also had the perks of participating in a food contest with hundreds of pounds of grilled food as part of entry.
