16th Annual Dance Africa – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth
Head to NBC 5 and the Dallas Black Dance Theater for a celebration of Africa’s rich African heritage and ancestors during the 16th annual DanceAfrica performances and free festival.
The Dallas Black Dance Theater’s DanceAfrica performances will be held October 1st and 2nd at 7:30 pm at Moody Hall in Dallas, Texas. The performance on Saturday evening will take place via livestream.
The Dallas Black Dance Theater is limiting seating capacity to allow social distancing in all performance venues. The block seating allows six feet of space between each set of two or four seats. Tickets must be purchased in blocks of two or four to attend the performance.

DanceAfrica will highlight the work of guest artists such as the Bandan Koro African Drum and Dance Ensemble and the DeSoto High School A Cappella Choir. The Bandan Koro African Drum and Dance Ensemble will captivate the audience with powerful movements and heartbreaking drumming. His work is guaranteed to recharge your mind as it shares African traditions and folklore. DeSoto High School’s award-winning A Cappella Choir will sing inspiring songs that embody the spirit of African tradition.
The focus of DanceAfrica’s performances is rhythm. Rhythm makes the body calm and at the same time energizes the mind. DanceAfrica by the Dallas Black Dance Theater allows you to immerse yourself in an oasis of African culture through music and dance.

Other performances such as the Allegro Performing Ensemble, Senior Performing Ensemble, and Junior Performing Ensemble at the Dallas Black Dance Academy embody a positive display of African heritage and ancestry. These performances will take place on October 1st and 2nd at 7:30 pm at the Moody Performance Hall in Dallas.
DanceAfrica Festival & Marketplace is a free event taking place on Saturday, October 2nd, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Kylde Warren Park. This family friendly event is filled with diverse food, fun, and vendors. Visitors can enjoy performances by local artists from the community throughout the day. About the Dallas Black Dance Theater
The Dallas Black Dance Theater is an internationally recognized professional dance company engaging the intercultural community through contemporary modern dance drawn from the African American experience.
As a result of the closings of Covic-19, the 44th season of the Dallas Black Dance Theater was held virtually. Many of her stage appearances have been reinterpreted cinematically in the Dallas countryside.
