2 men wounded in exchange of gunfire in Uptown, Dallas police say
Two men were wounded in Uptown on Sunday night when gunfire broke out between two groups, Dallas police say.
A 22-year-old man, Davion Whiting-Hill, was arrested in connection with the incident. It was unclear whether he had a lawyer.
Police responded at around 10 p.m. on the 2600 block on Howell Street, not far from Cedar Springs Road and McKinney Avenue, after an argument between two groups escalated to gunfire.
A man who was there was shot in the head and taken to hospital in critical condition.
Police later found another man in a hospital who had been shot in the leg and was in stable condition. The man had already left before the officers arrived and is said to have been involved in the riots, the police said.
Dallas police initially said both men were onlookers. They later discovered that only the man who was shot in the head was a bystander.
The police did not reveal the names of the injured or any further details.
Whiting-Hill was admitted to the Dallas County Jail early Monday for grievous bodily harm with grievous bodily harm. His bail had not been set.
