AIA DALLAS AND ARCHITECTURE AND DESIGN FOUNDATION HOST
Dallas, TX, Aug. 26, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – The Dallas Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA Dallas) and the Architecture and Design Foundation (the Foundation) announce their first annual Impact Dallas Gala, a Black-Tie Die The event will take place on Thursday, November 4th, 2021 at The Thompson Hotel in the newly renovated historic skyscraper The National in downtown Dallas.
Impact Dallas celebrates the role design plays in solving real-world problems, connecting communities, and improving people’s lives.

Co-chairs for Impact Dallas are Seale, a community activist and heritage conservation advocate, and architect Todd C. Howard, AIA, a past president of AIA Dallas and president of th + a architects.

As AIA Dallas and the Foundation strive to have lasting impact in Dallas and North Texas, the gala will award awards to two community members and an architect who exemplify their shared mission.
The AIA Dallas Lifetime Achievement Award is the highest honor given to an architect by the organization, the sixth largest AIA chapter in the country, and this year is presented to Larry Good, FAIA, founding director and chairman of the Dallas-based GFF , awarded.
The George Foster Harrell Prize is awarded based on merit only and has only been awarded five times since it was founded in 1980. The award recognizes an exemplary personality in the private sector who is a catalyst for change and who has a lasting impact on the region. Past winners include Margaret McDermott, J. Erik Jonsson, Frank Welch, FAIA, Stanley Marcus and O’Neil Ford, FAIA. She is joined this year by Deedie Rose, Hon. AIA in recognition of her role as philanthropist and liaison in advancing some of Dallas’ most impactful projects.
Introduced in 2021, the AD EX Community Cornerstone Award is presented to a non-architectural institution in recognition of outstanding contributions to improving the quality of life by designing environments and building communities. The winner will be announced at the gala.
The funds raised will continue the foundation’s mission to solve problems and improve lives. The Impact Dallas Gala aims to raise $ 175,000 in public programs, scholarships that open colleges and careers and bring diversity and equity to architecture, and grants to implement community-based design projects such as the AIA Dallas Emerging Leaders Program’s 2021 project of Camp Summit, which offers barrier-free sleep-away camps for children and adults with disabilities.
Impact Dallas will bring together art, architecture, design and culture at this extraordinary gala that fully activates the newly restored, iconic and historic Thompson Hotel at The National. To celebrate architecture as functional art, the event relies on creativity at every turn, from the art-packed venue itself to the event’s live music, immersive design installations, unique experiences, and an auction focused on art and architecture.
