Frisco City Councilor Dan Stricklin, elected 5th in December, announced his candidacy for Denton County Commissioner Precinct 2.
In a written statement released Friday, Stricklin, a Republican, said, “Denton County needs a conservative leader who fights special interests, focuses on public safety, and keeps your taxes low.”
He also listed four high-level priorities including:
- Build a larger portfolio of economic development opportunities to “help lower the tax burden on homeowners”
- Support public safety and law enforcement officials to “help protect families and build strong communities.”
- Support transportation infrastructure to “help increase trade”
The last priority on the list is “to be a tax-conservative steward of taxpayers’ money.”
In the written statement that Stricklin posted on his political Facebook page on Friday morning, he highlighted some of the city’s accomplishments since joining the council, including the city’s first step in developing a performing arts center and Frisco’s label as best Place to buy a home in the nation.
Stricklin also thanked the constituencies and voters of Frisco who supported him throughout his tenure as councilor.
“I am so grateful to all the citizens of Frisco that I have been able to meet and represent in my candidacy and my time on Frisco City Council over the past few years,” he wrote. “My family has met some of the best Texan families in our city. I am excited about the opportunity to represent where I grew up and run my business (STS 360 in Carrollton). Thank you for your continued support and for making Frisco the best place to live, work and raise a family. “
