Mortgage firm Fannie Mae subleasing surplus office space in Plano

Mortgage giant Fannie Mae is renting some surplus office space in its Plano skyscraper to an Addison technology company.

Financial software company Trintech rents two floors and more than 38,000 square feet of space in the Fannie Maes skyscraper in Planos Granite Park.

In 2017, Fannie Mae moved nearly 1,000 workers into the 10-story, 330,000-square-foot building developed by developer Granite Properties on State Highway 121 east of the Dallas North Tollway.

According to the planning documents submitted to the state, Trintech now hopes to be able to move into the building’s sublet area in November.

Architect Gensler is designing Trintech’s new office, which will begin construction this month.

Trintech is an international financial software company with more than 3,500 customers.

The company is currently based on Dallas Parkway in Addison.

Approximately 9 million square feet of excess office space is available for sublet in North Texas. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of office space sublet has increased.

Net office leasing in the region has declined sharply over the past year as most businesses keep their office workers at home.
