Arango’s hat trick leads LAFC past Pepi-less FC Dallas
FRISCO, Texas (AP) – Cristian Arango’s hat trick, which included two goals four minutes apart in the second half, led the LAFC 3-2 on Wednesday evening against a team from FC Dallas without Ricardo Pepi.
Pepi was absent after injuring a foot in the US national team’s win against Costa Rica last week.
Arango scored in the 33rd minute after a penalty shot by goalkeeper Phelipe Megiolaro, but the ball rolled over the line. Arango had put Daniel Musovski’s pass in 75th place with a slippery finish and gave the LAFC their first lead four minutes later.
Arango has scored 11 goals in 13 games for the LAFC (11-12-7) this season, including two on Saturday.
Dallas (6-14-10) was eliminated from the playoffs.
Ryan Hollingshead opened the goal in 10th place by shoving it into the far post, and Franco Jara gave Dallas a 2-1 lead just before half-time.
