Arcis Golf Acquires Arizona-based Mickelson Golf Properties
DALLAS – (BUSINESS WIRE) – Arcis Golf, the second largest and fastest growing golf course owner and operator in the United States, has acquired six Mickelson Golf Properties from professional golfer and World Golf Hall of Fame legend Phil Mickelson and business partner Steve Loy. The transaction was completed today and Arcis Golf will begin operations on Tuesday, August 3rd.
The six properties include three upscale private clubs and three daily fee establishments, each with their own distinctive identity and local feel. With this acquisition, Arcis Golf now has 15 properties within a short driving time of the greater Phoenix area.
“These exceptional additions to our portfolio support our strategy of owning and operating outstanding properties in each of our major hubs or expansion markets,” said Blake Walker, Founder and CEO of Arcis Golf. “We are excited to showcase our unique approach to delivering exceptional experiences to members and guests at these great private and daily fee facilities.”
“We are very excited to be working with Arcis Golf and trust them to build on the success we have had with these properties to date,” said Mickelson. “We were very impressed by the Arcis leadership team and their commitment to their members and guests and look forward to continuing our business relationship.”
Each Mickelson Club offers a unique and differentiated golf experience. Coupled with the existing Arcis Golf properties, these new facilities offer unparalleled seating choices, experiences and content for members, guests and visitors to the area.
The new clubs that will be added to the Arcis Golf portfolio are:
Private
The Stone Canyon Club (Oro Valley)
Located in front of the scenic Tortolita Mountains north of Tucson, Stone Canyon offers members one of the best golfing experiences in the state, an expansive clubhouse, luxury spa and tennis facilities. The club recently hosted The Match: Champions for Change with Mickelson and Charles Barkley versus Peyton Manning and Steph Curry on TNT.
Chaparral Pines Golf Club (Payson)
The residents of Chaparral Pines enjoy secluded privacy in a mild mountain climate. Known for exceptional family facilities, Chaparral Pines is regularly ranked one of the top Arizona golf courses, has world class club facilities, and is close to some of America’s most beautiful natural areas for hiking, fly fishing, and other outdoor activities.
The Rim Golf Club (Payson)
Nestled in Arizona’s spectacular Mogollon Rim Country, the Rim Golf Club is designed by Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish and plays 7,200 yards along wooded fairways woven by dramatic ledges and the largest populations of Ponderosa pines in the country. The natural elevations – up to 5,000 feet – and native vegetation add to the strategic challenge of the hazards as water comes into play at six holes.
Daily fee
McDowell Mountain Golf Club (Scottsdale)
The club is one of the leading public golf courses in the Valley and is located on the western slopes of the McDowell Mountains in Scottsdale adjacent to the state-approved Westworld Equestrian Center. The golf course extends over a length of 7,072 meters and is equipped with private club-level amenities, including the popular Mesquite Grill and attractive function rooms.
Ocotillo Golf Club (supplier)
Just minutes from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, this 27-hole course was designed by renowned course architect Ted Robinson and received the 4 1/2 Star Best Places to Play Award from Golf Digest.
Palm Valley Golf Club (Goodyear)
The original Arthur Hills design has been expanded to 27 holes (north, south, west) and offers golfers of all ages an accessible and immensely playable family-oriented experience.
These new golf courses add to Arcis Golf’s strong Phoenix roots. Arcis Golf currently owns and operates five daily fee golf courses and four private clubs that offer a wide range of golf, culinary and lifestyle amenities. Course designs include the most notable names in architecture, from Bob Cupp to Arnold Palmer to Perry Dye. The program goes far beyond golf and includes wellness and fitness, culinary and cultural experiences. Frequent and mutually played programs are available across the Phoenix portfolio, as are special events and entertainment.
In the past few years, Arcis Golf has invested more than $ 75 million in upgrades, amenities, staff, training, and systems to maximize the growth and future success of its collection of private, resort, and day clubs in the United States. The company will continue to look for opportunities to expand its real estate portfolio in key markets across the country.
Arcis Golf has received numerous awards including a ranking on Inc. Magazine’s 5000 list of the fastest growing companies in the country (2017, 2018) and a National Golf Foundation “Top 100 Businesses in Golf” (2018, 2020). In addition, CEO Walker was named Entrepreneur Of The Year® in the Hospitality category by EY in 2018.
