Arcis Golf invests $1 million in North Texas course upgrades, makes first international move

Dallas-based Arcis Golf plays locally and globally as golf continues to benefit from a pandemic-era resurgence.

The company recently invested $ 1 million in upgrades at Bear Creek Golf Club in Dallas, a 36-hole golf course near DFW International Airport, and announced its first international expansion on Monday with an agreement to manage and operate it of Kilada Country Club, Golf & Residences, a luxury hotel, announced a golf resort community under construction in southern Greece.

Improvements to the two Ted Robinson-designed Bear Creek golf courses include bunker renovations, tee leveling and re-greening, and improvements to the practice facility and cart track.

Arcis has also created “a fun, trendy place for alfresco dining and neighborhood hangouts” called The Backyard, according to founder and CEO Blake Walker. The outdoor patio’s upgraded food and beverage service will revolve around an Airstream trailer surrounded by fire pits, wooden tables, and lawn games.

The company owns and operates 12 golf courses in North Texas, including the recent acquisitions of Twin Creeks Golf Club and Gentle Creek Country Club. It is now the second largest golf facility operator in the US at 70, just behind Dallas-based ClubCorp.

In Greece, Arcis Golf said it will be involved in all facets of construction, club membership and marketing prior to opening and will manage Kilada course when completed. It will open in stages from 2023.

International expansion is the next step in the company’s growth, Walker said.

“This project expands our breadth and depth as a company,” he said in a statement. “Advice and management for a development of this magnitude use our extensive know-how in club operations and our expertise in designing first-class lifestyle offers.”

Resort owner and developer Dolphin Capital Partners is funding the project, which also includes the first Jack Nicklaus Signature Course in the Eastern Mediterranean.

Zoniro, the developer of Dolphin Capital projects, oversees the community master plan in the Porto Heli area of ​​the Peloponnese, a region known as the Hamptons of Greece. It will include 90 mansions ranging from 10,000 to 20,000 square feet. The golf course is under construction.

Arcis made a major purchase in August when it acquired a portfolio of six Arizona clubs from a company founded by renowned golfer Phil Mickelson.

The sport of golf has seen a resurgence during the COVID-19 pandemic, with the game increasing nearly 14% over the past year from 2019, according to the National Golf Foundation. This has continued this year, with rounds up 11% through August.
