Arlington auto remarketer outranks other high-growth D-FW companies in annual Inc. 5000 list

The fastest growing private company in Dallas-Fort Worth is not a healthcare, information technology, or financial company with an office with dozens of employees in a high-rise downtown.

It is an automotive retailer with only one full time employee based in Arlington.

Pomerske Holdings ranked fourth in Texas and 73rd in the country in this year’s Inc. 5000 ranking of privately held companies, increasing sales by 5.164% from 2017 to 2020. Inc. published the annual ranking on Tuesday.

Pomereke was founded in 2015 by Joey Pomereke and acts as a middleman in the automotive industry. Cars flow through its warehouses in Dallas and Fort Worth for repairs and inspections, and are shipped to both traditional and online dealerships.

“Every car has a different story with which sales point and which channel you can use to get this vehicle through,” said Pomereke.

His company weathered the COVID-19 pandemic better than most, largely because it benefited from increasing demand for used cars. Together with new partnerships with online car dealers, the year 2020 created a perfect environment for selling the company, according to Pomereke.

“We’ve been on a good growth path over the past few years, but the perfect storm definitely didn’t hurt us,” he said. “I don’t know what all the numbers looked like, but we probably got a higher rank because the other companies were struggling.”

Pomereke did not disclose its annual sales.

No other company based in D-FW made it into the top 100, although dozens other places occupied this year’s list. Coppell-based NXT Mortgage Co. and Irving-based Noblesoft Technologies followed Pomereke Holdings with sales growth of 2,496% and 2,200%, respectively.

To qualify for the list, US-based companies had to be privately owned, for-profit, and independent – no subsidiaries or divisions of any other company – by late 2020. They had to be incorporated and have sales by March 31st. 2017, with minimum sales of $ 100,000 for 2017 and $ 2 million for 2020.

The industries featured included everything from real estate to human resources. Perhaps one of the most unique D-FW companies is a company that specializes in Santa Claus.

Southlake-based HireSanta, which has grown by over 606%, is a vacation staffing company founded in 2012 that promises Santa Claus actors with real beards and bellies. The company was featured on Shark Tank in 2018 and closed a deal with Barabara Corcoran that agreed to sell 10% in exchange for $ 200,000.

The company, which previously relied on personal events, had to switch to virtual visits to Santa Claus in the pandemic. The change allowed for even more magical one-on-one experiences, said Mitch Allen, the company’s “senior elf”.

Since the country began opening up in 2021, Allen has been eager to experience personal events. The company’s in-person Christmas events in July rose nearly 400% this year compared to 2019.

“We believe this year people really want to connect to the traditions they had to miss out on,” said Allen.

HireSanta is ranked 800 on the Inc. list.

Two Roads Consulting, a Dallas-based technology management and consulting firm, made the list this year for the first time since it opened in 2015. The company grew over 260%, making it the 1,748 fastest growing company.

The pandemic has been both an obstacle and a boon to the company, which struggled with many of its customers closing stores last spring. However, Two Roads was able to help companies transition to virtual options.

Although the pandemic blocked the company’s growth for a few months, it resumed its pre-pandemic rate by the end of 2020, said Two Roads partner Kevin Rammage.

Rammage and founding partners Scott Chiou and Denton Newham said they couldn’t reveal their clients’ names, but the company works with several locally-based Fortune 100 companies.

“We have a fairly large presence in the transportation industry as a whole, both in the automotive industry and with airlines in North Texas,” said Newham. “Another of our larger customers is a well-known financial services company based here.”

The partners said the company performed well because of a localized model that sets it apart from other national consulting firms. Even before the pandemic, Two Roads consultants did not have to travel to meet clients, which made it easier to build relationships and cut travel expenses.

The company said it is evaluating ways to scale its growth in the coming years.
