The Wizard of Oz

The Dallas Symphony Wine & Food Festival
Set against the backdrop of the beautiful Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center (2301 Flora St.), the first DSO Wine and Food Festival offers a three-day journey through delicious wines, champagnes, craft beers, locally distilled spirits, and food from local chefs. The events include a wine and dinner pairing, a wine tasting, a champagne and brunch pairing, and two wine seminars. Hunt Slonem: mantra
The world famous artist Hunt Slonem brings his unique and colorful exhibition Mantra to Laura Rathe Fine Art (1130 Dragon St.). It shows his characteristic motifs – a love letter to nature – of butterflies, rabbits and birds as well as landscape pieces of the bayou. The Texas Horror Cult Picture Show is getting ready for Halloween and is accepting registrations for its six-week film competition on Sunday, August 29th at 6:00 p.m. at Oak Highlands Brewery (10484 Brockwood Road). At the kick-off event, the teams draw their film genre and receive an “element” that must be included in their short film, and then have six weeks to write, cast, shoot, cut and submit the film , with the closing performance at the Texas Theater. Rewind!
