BKV Group announces new executive hires in Minneapolis, Dallas and Washington, DC

The BKV Group, a holistic, multidisciplinary design firm, today announced the addition of three industry veterans to its growing national team. Recent appointments include Trace Jacques, AIA, CID moving to the Minneapolis Practice Center as Senior Architectural Designer with an emphasis on hospitality, and Partners; David Banta, AIA, as Senior Living Lead for the Washington, DC, Practice Site and Associate Partner; and Collin Koonce, LA, LEED AP BD + C, as landscape architecture director for the Dallas practice area and associated partner. “After an exceptionally challenging year, it is exciting to look to a bright future as we grow our team and strengthen our presence in all markets and real estate sectors, including hospitality and senior living,” said Jack Boarman, founder and managing partner of BKV- Group. “The addition of Trace, David and Collin to their respective practice locations and our joint national team will enable the BKV Group to continue our legacy of creating innovative and richly designed spaces for the customers we serve.” As a partner and senior architectural designer at BKV Group, Jacques will lead and work with the company’s hospitality team to develop its portfolio and reputation as an industry leader. During his 35 year career, he has designed more than 200 notable projects across the country. His penchant for forward-looking ideas and a comprehensive approach to design shape his productive work, which spans many sectors, including hospitality; luxurious, market-driven and affordable apartment building; Dormitory; and mixed uses. Jacques’ robust portfolio shows his desire and ability to deliver award-winning architectural designs that meet each client’s unique goals, complement the existing cultural fabric of the built place and enhance the lives of those who will live, work and stay in the inspired environment Spaces that he creates. Jacques is a nationally recognized architect and holds a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Minnesota, where he was also a lecturer and visiting jurist for several years. Throughout his career, he has devoted his time and talent to many good causes and organizations. Banta comes to the BKV Group with more than 35 years of experience, a large part of which is dedicated to senior living. In his new role, he will continue to expand the senior citizens’ portfolio of the BKV Group and specifically design rooms that meet the special needs of older people. Over the years, he has applied his skills and talents to a range of properties built and designed for aging residents, including independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing and memory care communities, and active adult development and affordable housing for seniors. Banta is known in the industry and regularly presents itself through countless lectures to national and international audiences and is an active participant in the AIA Design for Aging Knowledge Community, the Environments for Aging Conference and the American Seniors Housing Association. He has a Bachelor of Architecture from Virginia Tech. With a global perspective in his work as an urban planner and landscape architect, Koonce has designed a number of public and private outdoor spaces over the course of his 12-year career. These include large-scale mixed uses, open spaces for individual residential and commercial buildings, urban parks, street landscapes, plazas and culturally significant sites for the American Battle Monuments Commission abroad, Wild Horse Pass Master Plan and Thanks-Giving Place in Dallas. As Associate Partner and Head of Landscape Architecture, he will continue this work in all real estate sectors of the BKV Group, further underscoring the company’s commitment to providing customers with a full range of architecture, engineering, design and planning services. Koonce received his Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from Texas Tech University and his Master of Urban Planning and Design from the University of Georgia.
