Bride’s bouquet catches fire in viral TikTok video: ‘I just froze’
The moment a bride’s bouquet caught fire during her reception was captured on video and posted on TikTok.
Emily Jackson, 30, of Dallas, married her husband, Tyler, on April 24th. And although Jackson told Fox News that the ceremony was “everything I could ever have imagined,” the reception began with a minor mishap.
Jackson and her new husband had just walked in and Jackson went to place their bouquet in a vase on the sweetheart’s table according to her wedding coordinator’s instructions, Jackson told Fox News.

“We wanted to say a few words to our guests and then we wanted to do our first dance,” explained Jackson. “But when I put the bouquet down … there were candles all around it. And I thought in my head, ‘This feels like it might catch fire.'”
Jackson added that her next thought was that her coordinator knew what she was doing, so she went ahead and put the flowers in the vase.
“The next thing I knew was that they caught fire,” said Jackson. “I just froze.”

Jackson posted a recent video on TikTok where it has been viewed more than 1.6 million times.
In the clip, Jackson was just about to put the bouquet in the vase when it catches fire. Within seconds, however, Jackson’s photographer Molly Stevens of For the West and Wild Photo can be seen stepping into action and picking up the burning bouquet in an attempt to extinguish the flame.

The photographer then tosses the bouquet on the ground and starts stomping on it before Jackson’s brother-in-law Ryan – who is also a firefighter – shows up and puffs out the remaining flames as the wedding guests applaud.

Jackson said, “I just totally panicked. Some people have a fight, flight, or freeze reaction, my husband and I are freezers. “
“We were definitely happy to have Molly and Ryan with us to put out the fire,” she added.

Fortunately, Jackson said, no one was injured and there was no damage to the venue.
“I don’t think it was anyone’s fault,” she said. “Things happen. It’s a wedding anniversary, something is definitely not going to go as planned. And so the group brought out a big old laugh and we were really grateful that no one was hurt, there was no harm. And then we just kept partying . “
Jackson said that shortly after things calmed down, the DJ even played John Mayer’s song “Slow Dancing In a Burning Room,” which Jackson “thought was so funny.”

Unfortunately, the ostrich did not survive the incident.
“I would have liked to keep it,” said Jackson. “I was definitely stunned that I can’t keep this or have a tangible artifact or something from the wedding.”
However, Jackson still has the memory she will have for a lifetime.
“When I look back and watch this video – obviously your wedding day is not something you will ever forget – but these moments are definitely not going to be forgotten by my husband or I,” said Jackson.
She added, “It’s such a fun memory that makes me think of our wedding and it’s just so happy and exciting and could have been bad but thankful it wasn’t.”
