Build-your-own salad restaurant to open first Texas location in Irving

A restaurant that specializes in self-service salads is coming to Texas: Called Salad station, it’s a chain based in Hammond, Louisiana that does what they call gourmet salads that pay by the pound.

According to a notice, the restaurant is located at 7979 N. McArthur Blvd. # 120, in a former nail salon, and will open in February 2022.

With the Salad Station you can put together your own ingredients, with more than 100 toppings for salads, baked potatoes and sweet potatoes. They also make soups, wraps, and lemonade.

Greens include Romaine, Iceberg, Spinach, Spring Mix, Kale, and Zoodles. That is your base. Then choose from proteins, legumes, vegetables, nuts, fruits, toppings and side dishes.

Proteins include chicken, shrimp, ham, turkey, bacon, hot peppers, and eggs. But no tofu or impossible chicken nuggets. Salad Station, what about it?

Legumes are edamame, garbanzo, and black beans. Oddly enough, they put cilantro into this category as well. The nuts include sliced ​​almonds, pecans, sunflower seeds, and peanuts.

There are loads of vegetables: cucumbers, broccoli, diced peppers, mushrooms, grated carrots, onions, cabbage, tomatoes, celery, radishes, green peas and then some canned and canned vegetables like water chestnuts, pickles, pickled okra, palm hearts, marinated Artichokes and baby corn.

The chain was founded in 2012 by current President Scott Henderson with his business partner and mother Cindy Henderson. They began franchising in 2015 and have grown in Louisiana, as well as Alabama, Florida, Mississippi, and Arkansas. There are currently 26 locations in the US

Irving’s franchisees have a similar profile: they’re a father-daughter duo, Jeremy and Brittney Browning from North Dallas, who were already looking to open a business together. When they met the mother-and-son founders of Salad Station, they immediately connected with the brand. Brittney also has a public health background and they wanted their business to be a healthy option for the Irving community.
