Classic Tex-Mex restaurant rises in week’s 5 hottest Dallas headlines

1. The classic Dallas Tex-Mex comes to life in the historic town of El Fenix. The classic Dallas Tex-Mex, dormant for more than a decade, is ready to get up again. Casa Rosa, which once ruled the Park Cities from its Inwood Village location, is being revived by owner Gilbert Cuellar Jr., who will open at an address with a story of its own: the former El Fenix at 5622 Lemmon Ave., im Lemmonwood shopping center, built in 1961.
2. Cattle Baron’s Ball 2021 comes back as the ultimate party in Dallas. Well, Dallas hasn’t forgotten how to party. In fact, “Double Down” turned out to be the perfect theme for Cattle Baron’s Ball 2021, which turned last year’s COVID cancellation into a sold out spectacle that grabbed 2,600 revelers at Gilley’s Dallas on Saturday, October 23rd.
3. Family comes back with a swing in Richardson with a new Tex-Mex restaurant. The bad news is that a pizzeria is closed. Pizza Americana, a gourmet pizzeria restaurant that opened in Richardson at 800 W. Arapaho Rd. In 2019, has closed after two and a half years. The good news is that an exciting Mexican restaurant is opening in its place: Sueño Modern Mex-Tex is a new concept from a popular family with decades of experience in the industry.
4. So many workers in Dallas-Fort Worth are now making six-figure salaries. For some workers in Dallas-Fort Worth, Big D stands for Big Dollars. According to a new study by Stessa, a provider of property management software for landlords, DFW recorded a six-digit increase in jobs in the six-digit range from 2015 to 2020. DFW ranks 26th among the major US metropolises for the percentage increase in six-figure jobs from 2015 to 2020.
5. A sprawling new restaurant-bar opens in McKinney with outdoor games. Restaurants with spacious outdoor areas are all the rage in Dallas-Fort Worth, and now McKinney has one of them: The Stix Icehouse is a new restaurant-bar and outdoor area that celebrated its grand opening at 301 Eldorado Pkwy last weekend. It is a 14 acre complex that not only offers food and drink, but also a nine-hole disc golf course, wiffle ball, corn hole, table tennis, swings, tree house and a large space for events.
