Marketplace for landscaping materials GoMaterials released a report detailing the severity of the asset shortage in 2021 to help the industry map the impact in the southern United States.

Based on proprietary sourced data from thousands of landscaping jobs, the report provides extensive information on specific sizes, plant types and price trends affected by the bottlenecks. According to the data in the report, scarce plants and trees are currently being sold at an average of 20 percent higher prices than last year.

Plant shortages in recent years have been exacerbated by the simultaneous effects of COVID-19, extreme weather events and changing consumer preferences. GoMaterials’ 2021 report examines the role of the dual effects of pandemic restrictions as well as the Texas snowstorm.

“Most of the wholesale suppliers and landscapers we work with have been hit by the bottlenecks, and the lack of precise information on sizes, scarce types and prices is adding to the confusion. This report is our way of helping our friends and colleagues in the industry, ”said Marc Elliott, GoMaterials CEO. “More than 60 percent of the industrial partners we spoke to assume that the shortage will continue for at least two years. GoMaterials is constantly assessing the situation by working closely with our kindergarten partners to create awareness and more efficient delivery channels. “

Landscaping companies can download the report now to learn about scarce items and sizes, price hike trends, and replacement alternatives. The new report also helps wholesale nurseries compare their prices based on the data in the report.
