Experts urged the FDA to recommend additional precautions for the pill, including pregnancy tests for women before taking the drug.

As a reaction to the omicron variant, new US travel restrictions come into force, WFAA reports. The US government has banned travel to South Africa and seven other countries in southern Africa. WFAA reports say some travel experts are urging passengers to prepare for the persistence of international travel bans, including pictures of vaccination cards and COVID-19 insurance policies.

Pfizer will apply for approval for COVID boosters for 16- and 17-year-oldsreports the Washington Post. Pfizer and BioNTech are expected to urge the Food and Drug Administration to approve their booster vaccinations for this age group in the coming days. The move to expand eligibility among teenagers is made while the White House navigates the Omicron variant.
