Iowa State University awarded 802 graduates this summer. Local graduates and their degrees include Anthony Jacobsen of the Dallas Center, masters degree in mechanical engineering; Cinthia Naranjo of Perry, Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and Mass Communication; Austin Cox from Van Meter, Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture; Kaitlyn Burke of Waukee, PhD in philosophy in psychology; and Joshua Groves from Woodward, with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and sociology.
Ellise Mueller of Adel was one of 88 graduate students in pharmacy at the University of Iowa who recited the pharmacist’s oath and was officially inducted into the profession and college during the College of Pharmacy’s annual white coat ceremony.
Abagail McKernan of Granger; Meghal Patel from Perry; Connor Littlefield of Waukee; and Aravinthasamy Sivamurugan of Waukee were over 140 freshmen from the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine attending the 27th annual Arnold P. Gold Foundation White Coat Ceremony.
The Hawkeye Marching Band 2021 has 272 members. Area students in the band include alto saxophonist Eva Fisk of Earlham; clarinetist Jackie Johnston, trombonist Landon McPike, and trumpet player Jada Spooner of Waukee; and Mellophonist Emma Brown from Urbandale.
