Dallas Cowboys not among seven NFL teams above 85% vaccination threshold

With eight days to go to training camp in Oxnard, California, the cowboys are hoping to enjoy the NFL’s eased COVID-19 restrictions.

However, at least from now on they will no longer be able to do that.

Seven NFL teams are now above the 85% vaccination threshold, according to a report by NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. However, USA Today reports that the cowboys are not one of them.

The Cowboys aren’t among the teams to have reached the 85% vaccination threshold, an informed source shares with @usatodaysports. Cowboys go to training camp in 8 days. Players are not expected to “not even have enough first doses to get close next week,” the source says. https://t.co/YQ5a9hLtWM

The NFL and NFLPA agreed on COVID-19 protocols for the training camp and preseason in June, and fully vaccinated players are given more freedom than their unvaccinated teammates.

For example, fully vaccinated players in the team facility do not have to wear a mask together with other vaccinated players and no longer have to test themselves daily for the corona virus. Fully vaccinated players can use the team charter to travel to away games, train in the weight room and take part in marketing events, among other things.

Players who are not fully vaccinated will have a daily COVID-19 test, wear a mask in the team facility, continue to distance themselves from vaccinated teammates, and cannot leave the team hotel en route, not even to eat in a restaurant.

An unvaccinated player is reportedly banned from visiting a bar or nightclub, and violations can be fined up to $ 50,000.

The NFL will allow Tier 1 staff (coaches and coaches) and Tier 2 staff (front office staff) to interact with players when they are all fully vaccinated. Most of the cowboys’ coaches and front office are fully vaccinated, and owner Jerry Jones said he would like his players to be vaccinated.

“Of course it’s available to everyone so it’s a personal choice as we realize,” said coach Mike McCarthy last week. “We feel in good shape and have a very healthy work environment.”
