Dallas-Billy McDonald met more than 12 faces while trying to unlock the Mac’s Bar-B-Que door during business hours at 11 a.m. on Friday.
“15 people were waiting outside,” said McDonald’s. “When I checked my watch again at 11:15 am, I was all the way to the door, around the corner, and down to the next block.”
Sold out until 1:30 am, one hour before closing.
“Some people came back to the counter and said, ‘Oh, I wish I knew you were here. I want to try. But you won’t be here anymore. “McDonald said.
The Mac’s first bar-b-que location opened in January 1955. In 2021 it will be the third iteration in Dallas and will work with the same standards and values as in 1955.
“It was about the people who wanted to be here,” said McDonald’s. “It’s not just a place to eat. My father still had a barbecue. My mother ran a cash register and I was a stubborn bus boy.
Now he’s the owner. He’s been the owner for 40 years and has closed a 66 year old restaurant.
“I think it’s time to let someone else take the reins,” said McDonald.

“It has turned my business into a really disastrous turn,” said McDonald’s. “2020 was probably the worst financial year the company has ever existed.”
But McDonald’s said that wasn’t why it closed.
“It’s time to spend some time with ourselves,” said McDonald’s. “It is my choice to do what I do.”

“Every little person like me has a hard time trying to do their best,” said McDonald’s. “I like it when small restaurants are successful.”
