Preview Dallas Stars vs. Boston Bruins: Taming the Bruins by Brian Sweet

The Dallas Stars lost 3-1 to the Boston Bruins on Saturday night. This wasn’t the star’s night when it came to owning the puck in the opposing zone. The Bruins controlled the puck for most of the game and that cost the Stars victory tonight in Boston.

Dallas Stars vs. Boston Bruins Summary: 1st Period

This wasn’t the start the Dallas Stars wanted in Boston. They spent most of the time getting the puck out of their zone. The shots on goal were 17: 5 in favor of the Bruins. Brad Marchand was tripped into the net and scored with a penalty near the end of the frame. Hopefully the stars will come together in the second period or this will be a long game for them.

Dallas Stars vs. Boston Bruins Summary: 2nd Period

The stars came out of the locker room and got the puck from Boston’s goalkeeper in the power play. The stars were also lucky that Roope Hintz’s freak injury was only a minor incision and allowed the second period to begin.

The second period was a continuation of the first for the Bruins, as they spent most of their time down on the stars side of the ice. The only good side for the stars is that their penalty shoot-out keeps them in the game.

Luke Glendenning got the stars on the board midway through the second period with a turnover in the Boston zone. On his second attempt three minutes later, he also drew a penalty to give the stars a power play.

Lukas Glendening! You have to love it when deep guys get on the board. The longtime Red Wing buries a shot between the points to tie this game. Huge goal.

The shots on goal favored Boston 28-14 after 2 periods. The stars came up with some chances on the offensive and made this a draw going into the third period.

Dallas Stars vs. Boston Bruins Summary: 3rd Period

The Boston Bruins continued to attack the net early in the third period and Jake DeBrusk managed to overtake Holtby to regain the lead. The Stars couldn’t get anything going for the rest of the game and the Boston Bruins took it down to 3-1 with an empty net from Marchand.

Dallas Stars vs. Boston Bruins Summary: next game

The stars have a quick turnaround tomorrow when they travel to Ottawa to face the Senators. The Senators are a very young team that shouldn’t be overlooked. Last season they had one of the league’s most dangerous rookies. It should be a fun matchup to watch on a Sunday afternoon.
