Davis: Dispose of agricultural pesticides properly | Lifestyle
Undesired excess of pesticides in agriculture? Dispose of them for free and stay in your vehicle! A day of collecting agricultural pesticide waste will be held in Athens on October 28th. The event will take place from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Henderson County Regional Fair Park, 3356 Texas 31, Athens.
If you have unwanted, excess agricultural pesticides, this is an opportunity to dispose of them safely and properly.
This is a start-up service and those who dismount stay in their vehicles. Pesticides must be in their original containers even if the label is not on. Unknown pesticides are tested on site.
Accepted items include obsolete, discontinued, or unwanted agricultural pesticides; Insecticides; Herbicides; Fungicides; Rodenticides; Nematicides; Growth regulators; empty, triple-flushed plastic pesticide containers (55 gallons max.); and empty or partially metal barrels.
Unacceptable items include explosives and ammunition; Petroleum based products; Colours; medical waste; radioactive substances; Pesticides, chemicals and household waste; Tires; Fertilizer; Propane or butane bottles; chlorinated hydrocarbons; Fumigant canisters; used motor oil and other automotive fluids; Car batteries; empty pockets; Methyl bromide cylinders; and dioxins.
Pesticide dealers and traders are not allowed to participate.
