Day 2 Of The State Fair Of Texas Brings Visitors Fun, Football & Fried Food – CBS Dallas / Fort Worth
DALLAS, Texas (CBSDFW.COM) – Day two of the State Fair of Texas was a lot of fun for visitors and the first of two football games to be played in the Cotton Bowl.
There was plenty to do on the first Saturday of the season, including the State Fair Classic between Grambling State and Prairie View A&M, and showgoers from around the world said they wouldn’t have wanted to spend their Saturday any other way.

“We’re staying close, trying new rides and new foods,” said participant Donielle Lee. “The kids love it!”
Some visitors said they come every year.
“It was kind of sad that we weren’t there last year, but this year … I feel really great to be here,” said Gisselle Castillo.
Visitor Capri Truvillion said she could not refuse the spontaneous call to return to the exhibition center.

“She called me and said, ‘I’ll get you and we’re going to the fair’ and I said, ‘Here I come!'” Said Truvillion. “Because we missed because of COVID, I said, ‘Why not!'”
The Texas Black Pumas also took to the main stage on Saturday night, one reason many stayed here after dark.
Despite all the fun at the fair, officials expect that the number of visitors this year will be slightly lower on average due to the pandemic. However, they are satisfied with the participation in the last two days.
“It’s going fantastic,” said State Fair spokeswoman Karissa Condoianis. “It feels so good to be back in Fair Park for the State Fair of Texas this year. To have the people walking around enjoying all the things they know and love at the State Fair, all the traditions and really celebrating everything Texan this year! “
