Denton now has a mask mandate

DENTON, Texas – Denton City Council voted Thursday evening to pass a mask mandate that applies to all city facilities, including businesses, schools and city buildings. The mandate comes into force on Friday, August 13th at 12 noon.

The mask ordinance states that masks are compulsory in city-owned buildings and are “strongly recommended” in public.

That news means Denton is joining Dallas County to oppose Governor Greg Abbott’s executive order banning local governments from granting masked mandates.

A Denton city spokesman said more information will come on Friday morning.
