Don’t Call It A Comeback! Match Group’s BLK And Hip-Hop Legends Juvenile, Mannie Fresh And Mia X Want You To Vax That Thang Up | Texas News

DALLAS, July 7, 2021 / PRNewswire / – BLK, the largest dating app for black singles with over 5 million downloads to date, is one of the hottest and most famous collaborations of the year and has partnered with rap legends Juvenile, Mannie Fresh and Mia X, who transforms the legendary rap classic “Back That Thang Up” into the new vaccine anthem “Vax That Thang Up”. The comedic restart revolves around a clear message: Dating is better in every way when you’re vaccinated.

This captivating and energetic version portrays the legends of Cash Money Records Juvenile and Mannie Freshwho starred on the original track, first released in 1998, as well as No Limit Records star and “the mother of southern gangster rap,” Mia X, who gives the track a fierce feminine energy. This blockbuster restart marks the first time in music history that artists from Cash Money and No Limit have collaborated in any official capacity. The electric trio each brings a unique energy and nostalgic atmosphere to the track, celebrating black culture and encouraging young black singles to get vaccinated.

“I just wanted to do something positive for my people and be up front to show that I am ready to sacrifice my life not only for myself but also for my family,” said Juvenile about the new project. “We don’t know what’s in store for us right now, but we really all need to be vaccinated so that we can keep doing our thing and surviving.”

The track begins with the iconic head nodding and skipping “Back That Thang Up” beat. Juvenile then effortlessly maneuvers through iconic bars with its signature southern stretch effect Mannie Fresh prefers with citable and confident bars, punctuated by a clear call to action to get vaccinated. Meanwhile, Mia X’s magnetic and seductive Hook instantly captivates the audience as they are told to get vaccinated before they meet “a guy named Scott”. The associated optics overflow with nostalgia New Orleans Let energy bounce off as these three icons conquer our screens with an important and powerful message … “Come on, go, go, go, get the shot!”

While the US continues to seek herd immunity to Covid-19 and despite the new threat level, young adults are the demographic that has lagged the most when it comes to vaccination. According to a report released by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, vaccination rates were lower in this age group between 18 and 29 years old and increased more slowly over time compared to other age groups. Your intention to get vaccinated is also lower.

As states and organizations try a variety of tactics to motivate young adults to vaccinate, the BLK took a different approach. “We have a direct line to the audience, who have to internalize this message,” said Jonathan Kirkland, BLK Head of Brand & Marketing. “The song may be playful and funny, but the underlying message is as real as it gets.”

The campaign was created in collaboration with Majority, the marketing agency that was co-founded by Shaquille O’Neal Earlier this year based on a diversity based talent model. From the creative approach, majority founder Omid Farhang explains: “To be young means to feel invincible. BLK is uniquely positioned to address this historic moment, not through an academic lecture or sober manifesto, but through pop culture content that directly points out the benefits of the dating IRL after vaccination. ”

In addition to the video, BLK unveiled the Vaxified badge in its app, which allows singles to advertise their vaccination status in future games. In less than a month, over 100,000 BLK users have added the “Vaxified” badge to their profiles. Kirkland adds, “We want the Vaxified badge for dating to be what the blue tick is on Twitter – a status symbol.”
