Fall Festivals Return to North Texas This Weekend – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

Fall festivals are making a comeback!

The pandemic disrupted many traditions in north Texas.

But some are returning this weekend.

This year the 34th Addison Oktoberfest is taking place.

It has become an annual tradition for many in North Texas. As disappointed as people were that it was canceled last year due to COVID-19 concerns, they’re just as excited to have it back.

“This Addison Oktoberfest lasts two years. We have planned and worked to do this safely and bring it back in such a way that all the people who loved it will still enjoy it but be comfortable out here, ”said Addison City Special Events Director Jasmine Lee.

Beneath the large tents, the tables have been spaced to allow for more social distancing and the sides of the tents are gone, making it almost entirely an outdoor event.

It may look a little different but still has all the traditional food, fun and of course beer.

Grapevine’s GrapeFest is back this weekend after being canceled last year.

This year’s theme is “Texas Wine, Come and Take It”.

The organizers say it is the largest wine festival in the southwestern United States.

Both events run over the weekend.
