We asked readers of the Poughkeepsie Journal for their suggestions on the best hot dog spots in Dutchess, and received over 100 responses (including one in Ulster!). Here are the top spots:

Forrest’s Sidestreet Cafe, Pawling: Forrest’s Sidestreet Cafe is now in its 31st season, open from mid-spring to late fall. The family-run truck serves sabrett hot dogs made with only beef, which can be customized with a variety of toppings. The cafe also serves sausages, sandwiches, burgers, and more. Picnic seating. Caroles Hot Dogs, Hyde Park: Carole has been in the hot dog business for 40 years and chose Hyde Park to park her truck. Carole’s Hot Dog is currently getting a new truck up and running. Noshis Coney Island, Poughkeepsie: Family-run Noshi’s Coney Island enables customers to personalize their hot dogs with over 30 toppings. They also have a menu of specially curated hot dogs, including Chicago, Detroit, Brooklyn Coney, and many more. Dallas Hot Weiners, Kingston: Dallas Hot Weiners is family-owned and operates two locations including its flagship store in Ulster County, a third in Saugerties, and a fourth in Lake Katrine. Elisha’s takeaways, Fishkill: The family-run business has been on Route 52 since 2010. It features hot dogs with homemade Texas sauce, cheese, sauerkraut, and more, as well as curated hot dogs like mustard, chilli, and chopped onions with Eliza’s Chili Dog or the New York Dog.
