Fighting Hunger at the State Fair of Texas 2021 – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

The State Fair of Texas is back and better than ever! After nearly two years without our beloved fair due to Covid-19, it is time to welcome this Texan staple back home. The State Fair of Texas takes place from September 24th to October 17th at Fair Park in Dallas.

On opening day, Friday, September 24th, NBC 5, the State Fair of Texas and the North Texas Food Bank are fighting hunger. On opening day, bring two jars of peanut butter to donate to the North Texas Food Bank, and your entry price is $ 10 at the box office for this promotion.

NBC 5 continues our campaign to fight hunger every Wednesday during the State Fair of Texas through the North Texas Food Bank’s Feed the Need program. Participating is very easy! Just bring 5 canned goods to the State Fair on any Wednesday and your entry fee is $ 5 at the box office for this promotion. All of your canned donations go to the North Texas Food Bank.

In 1982 the North Texas Food Bank was founded by Jo Curtis, Kathryn Hall, Lorraine Griffin Kircher and Liz Minyard. They decided to address the critical problem of hunger in our community by distributing donations of excess food and food products through a network of charities.

Over the decades, the effects of hunger have increased. As NTFB entered the new century, the face of hunger changed as the economic downturn caused North Texans to seek food aid at every income level.

Today NTFB continues the fight against hunger as a certified member of the Feeding America Food Bank Network. Feeding America, the nation’s largest domestic hunger relief organization, purchases food and grocery products from national suppliers, distributes them through more than 200 food banks, and
