Food Truck Community Mourns Two Women Killed in Crash – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth
The close-knit food truck and catering community in North Texas mourns the loss of two women who were killed in an accident on a wet street in Dallas on Wednesday morning.
Dallas Police said a commercial food truck left the street along Loop 12 Walton Walker Boulevard and hit a guardrail under I-30.
The truck rolled and threw out the passenger Elvira Fuentes and the 60-year-old Marta Rivas, who was driving.
“[Marta] was … you looked at her and she always smiled, ”said Maria del Carmen Aguilar, vice president of United Caterers in Grand Prairie.
Fuentes’ family tells NBC 5 that they worked in the hospitality industry for over 20 years, leaving behind three children.
“She was a very kind person and survived cancer,” said Aguilar of Fuentes.
The owners of the United Caterers Commissariat worked with both victims.
“Our hearts are broken,” said co-owner Randy Elledge. “They were very wonderful ladies and they were devoted and loving and will miss them.”
Loved ones are raising money on GoFundMe to bring Fuentes’ body back to their home in El Salvador. If you’d like to help, click here.
NBC 5 asked DPD for an update to investigate the crash. A spokesman said there was no update.
