For Carli Loyd, other older Olympic athletes, age is just a number | Lifestyle
The first sports skateboard added to attract young spectators to the Olympics is not uncomfortable for young people. Dallas Oberholtzer in South Africa is aiming for a gold medal at the age of 46.
Lloyd is the oldest player on the US soccer team with the oldest median age (30.8 years) of any US team to have played in the Olympics. Other older players are Megan Rapinoe and Becky Sourbrunn, both 36 years old.
“We don’t look at athletes by age because there are so many other things to consider before we know their age. Most importantly, whether they perform or not, they help us win the Olympics. Is it possible, ”said Vratko Andnovsky, Director of the United States.
For Lloyd, the fact that the game was postponed for a year really helped. She had knee surgery, met her family again, and hired a new trainer.
“Last year I worked a lot and tried my hand at finesse,” she said. “So I think that I’m actually better positioned than in 2020. I’m really grateful and will pull the plug.”
Old gymnastics? No seriously.
Okay, nobody thinks 20 years old. The US gymnastics team, however, consists of 20 people, including 24-year-old Simone Biles. The days of Dominique Moceanu, a 14 year old Sprite who won gold in 1996, are over.
