The memorial service for Gregory “Miles” Hardage will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at 2:00 pm at University Place Christian Church. The processing takes place under the direction of the funeral home Henninger-Hinson. Gregory “Miles” Hardage was born on August 14, 1962 to Bill Hardage Sr. and Linda S. Hardage in Dallas, Texas and died on July 5, 2021 at Mercy Hospital, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, after a long illness.
As a young boy, Miles’ father had a job opportunity and his family was relocated to Chicago, Illinois. Miles and his older brother Bill quickly adapted to the big city. Then Miles’ father was transferred to Enid, Oklahoma, from his Railway Express Agency company. Miles and his older brother would accompany his father in the various tasks of his job.
Miles spent many magical summers visiting his grandparents Lindley on their farm. His grandparents’ farm, Lindley, was on the South Canadian River. He was Huckleberry Finn. His grandfather Hardage was a Creek Indian. Miles was very proud of his Creek Tribe ancestry. Both grandparent couples lived in Oklahoma.
Miles married Margaret Anderson and from that connection four boys were born – Christopher Miles, Joseph Evan, Charles Tyler, and Richard Adam. Before considering paternity leave, Miles went to work to care for his newborn sons. Miles liked to get up and leave. His family never knew which way Miles would take the family on vacation.
Miles was a great husband. When Margaret developed her second kidney failure, Miles asked the nephrologist if he could be a kidney transplant donor. Unfortunately it was not compatible. The doctor told Miles that the best way to help Margaret was to find a government agency with the best health insurance. Miles was a master carpenter. At the time of Margaret’s Kidney Failure, Miles was employed by Phillips University as Co-Physical Plant Director. He left that position he really enjoyed to get a government job. Miles’ wife Margaret had a successful transplant. Phillips University was sold to the State of Oklahoma for Northern Oklahoma College. Miles was asked to return to Northern Oklahoma College; he has returned. He created and implemented numerous construction projects (large and small). Miles also designed and completed the hardscape for his brother’s memorial garden (brick pillars, garden gate, brick wall, etc.). The garden was lovely – straight from Architecture Digest.
Miles leaves behind his wife Margaret Rose (Anderson) Hardage; four sons Christopher, Joseph, Charles and Richard; Mother Linda Hardage ransom (Merlin); Sister-in-law “Bea” Beatrice Anderson; Niece Emily; Great-nephew Datron; Sister-in-law Debra (rhyme) Hardage-Martin; Nephew Brandon Hardage (Katie); Niece Ashlee Hardage Ellison; Great-nephews Zackery, Tabor, Hayden and Brock; Great niece Khloe. His uncles, Elmer, Marlin, Tony, Harold, Franklin and Sam. His aunts, Gail, Becky and many wonderful cousins.
Miles was born in death to his father Bill Hardage Sr, brother Bill Hardage Jr, maternal grandparents Miles Clifford and Priscilla Lindley, paternal grandparents Luke and Imogene Hardage, mother and father-in-law Anne C. Anderson and Richard T. Anderson; Nephew (as a son) Joshua Robert Hammond.
Donations can be made to the University Place Christian Church and the COPD Foundation.
