Hawks to Host the Mavericks in ‘Opening Night Presented by State Farm®’ on Oct. 21

ATLANTA – The Atlanta Hawks open the NBA’s 2021-22 regular season against the Dallas Mavericks in a nationally broadcast game at the State Farm Arena on Thursday, October 21st at 7:30 p.m. the start of the “Good Neighbor Giveback” campaign, Donates $ 100 to the State Farm with the Hawks Foundation for every point the Hawks earn over 100 in each regular season game (up to $ 100,000).

“We’re looking forward to another season with our home team cheering both on and off the pitch. Our ongoing partnership with the Hawks enables us to work together to support the Atlanta neighborhoods and build stronger communities, ”said Dan Krause, senior vice president of State Farm Southeastern Market Area. “Helping the hawks fight food insecurity was an example of how together we can make a greater impact.”

The beneficiary of this year’s Good Neighbor Giveback will be the Atlanta Community Food Bank, which will use the funds to tackle child hunger throughout the greater Atlanta area. State Farm and the Hawks made tackling local food insecurity in the city a key part of their partnership started in 2018, including the Hawks & State Farm Million Meal Pack in 2019 and during the COVID-19 pandemic of 10 pop-up Grocery Stores in partnership with Goodr, Inc. for more than 6,000 underserved families.

“One in seven children in our 29-county service area lives in a food insecure household,” said Kyle Waide, president and CEO of the Atlanta Community Food Bank. He continued, “The Good Neighbor Giveback Campaign will help us fight hunger among our youngest and weakest neighbors by helping us provide more nutritious meals that they need to become strong and healthy. We are grateful to the State Farm and the Atlanta Hawks for their support. “

Fans entering the highly anticipated competition will receive a complimentary red Believe Atlanta T-shirt and a glowing State Farm bracelet. Each bracelet is powered by a special RFID technology that allows fans to take part in a synchronized light show during the pregame in the State Farm Arena. The mantra “Believe” was the rally call for the city during the 2021 playoffs when the Hawks fought their first postseason trip since 2017 and shocked the NBA by beating two higher-seeded opponents and reaching the Eastern Conference final.

“Last season’s incredible run made this one of the most anticipated in Hawks history. We’re excited to kick off the season with a full State Farm arena and continue building the playoff momentum, ”said Steve Koonin, CEO of Hawks and State Farm Arena. “We all believe this will be another special season for us on the pitch and in the community.”

The Hawks and State Farm are also bringing Opening Night directly to the community by distributing Believe Atlanta T-shirts and glowing bracelets across town, including all State Farm Good Neighbor Club locations. The clubs serve as comprehensive learning and entertainment centers for the community and are an extension of the team’s ongoing field renovation program aimed at improving access to the game across Metro Atlanta.
