Highly venomous cobra snake missing in Texas town, police warn

Police warn residents of a Texas city to watch out for a dangerous snake roaming free.

Grand Prairie Police in Grand Prairie, Texas announced on Wednesday that a West African Banded Cobra was missing Tuesday night.

According to official reports, the Texas State Department of Parks and Wildlife has given the owner a permit to use the venomous snake.

The owner told FOX 4 that his snake – which he only had a few days – was missing while he was building an enclosure for it. He told the station he should have locked the cage, but he didn’t, which was a mistake.

Although the line is very dangerous, the owner, who refused to give his name, told the broadcaster: “I am very sorry for the community and for everything because of the fears they have to go through.”

Dallas Fort Worth Wildlife official Randall Kennedy told FOX 4 that it was unlikely to harm anyone unless the snake is disturbed. However, when it bites a human, the consequences can be fatal.

“Don’t let yourself be exaggerated. It won’t chase you like that, “Kennedy told FOX 4.” If you step on it, it will bite you. If you grab it, it will bite you otherwise you are pretty safe. “
