Huge skyscraper project north of downtown Dallas gets approval
Plans for a new skyscraper development on the northern edge of downtown Dallas have received approval from city planners.
Dallas’ Hunt Realty’s 11-acre Field Street project will include office, residential and hotel towers, as well as retail space north of the Woodall Rodgers Freeway. The skyscrapers are said to surround a lush Central Park.
The mixed-use project could include buildings more than 80 stories high.
The Dallas City Planning Commission unanimously approved the development at its last meeting, and the city council has yet to give final approval to the zone changes for the project.
The towers and park would replace the Northend Apartments, built in 1997, which preceded the building boom in the area.
Hunt Realty has owned the website for more than two decades.
“We are sincerely grateful for the support of our project from the planning committee, neighbors and city workers,” said Colin Fitzgibbons, president of Hunt Realty Investments. “It was a really collaborative process and it made the whole project a lot better.
“This is also a great time as the city of Dallas continues to gain momentum with corporate relocations, retail growth and rising hotel occupancy.”
The new building is planned as a bridge between Uptown and Victory Park. It is one of three major high-rise projects underway in this area of Dallas.
Developer Hillwood Urban is planning a 38-story high-rise office building that will be located on the south side of Woodall Rodgers Freeway at the entrance to the city center.
And Kaizen Development Partners and Woods Capital are working on plans for their 6 acre Field Street District, a two-block, mixed-use project planned on the Woodall Rodgers Freeway.
