Inaugural Troubadour Festival will bring barbecue and country music to Celina on Nov. 6

To claim that barbecue and country music are as Texan combination as anyone could ever combine them with one another runs the risk of being labeled “Captain Obvious”. A new festival in North Texas relies on locals to agree that there are few things better than slapping a brisket while going to see some great Texan artists.

The first Troubadour Festival will take place on November 6th in Celina’s Old Celina Park. Lone Star State marquee music names to appear on the Stacked Bill include Pat Green, Josh Abbott Band, Stoney LaRue, Cody Canada and the Departed, and Kyle Nix and the .38′s.

The festival is produced by Double Tap Entertainment, a Chase Colston-led company. Colston is a veteran of the music-and-meat festival planning arena. He helped make the always-sold-out Red Dirt BBQ Festival, held every year in Tyler, a must-see annual event for country fans in East Texas. Judging by the line-up of grocery vendors and musical performances, the new Troubadour Festival appears to have the same structure and undeniably Texan appeal as the veteran Tyler event.

Many local grill stars present their smoked delicacies. Hurtado Barbecue in Arlington, Hutchins BBQ in McKinney and Frisco, Dallas’ The Slow Bone and Zavala’s Barbecue in Grand Prairie will be on site. Celina’s favorite tender smokehouse will offer hometown visitors a familiar taste.

Just as the music lineup is made up of artists from all over the country, so is the barbecue lineup. Famous meat palaces from outside Dallas-Fort Worth, including Kreuz Market in Lockhart and Taylor’s Louie Mueller Barbecue, offer their meat alongside Austin’s CM Smokehouse, Guess Family Barbecue in Waco, and Katy’s Bretts BBQ Shop. A total of 42 barbecue areas are planned.

Not a grill fan? Local food trucks will be ready for service in the late afternoon after the grill vendors are ready for the day. Ticket options cater to those who like the tunes but maybe not the meat, as well as those who want as much of both Texas-flavored festival attractions as possible.
