IPM Launches Site-of-Care Infusion Services through Option Care Health
FRESNO, Caliph., October 20, 2021 / PRNewswire / – Integrated Prescription Management (IPM), a leader in pharmacy performance management (PBM), now offers Integrated On-Site IV Therapy (SOC) through Option Care Health, the largest independent home and alternative location provider the country’s infusion services.
Patients with complex diseases sometimes cannot eat, let alone take medication. Infusion therapy is a way to give the body drugs, nutrients, or special fluids intravenously (IV), which allows for a higher rate of absorption than oral drugs.
SOC Infusion Centers are outpatient clinics that deliver infusion therapies that are traditionally given to patients in hospitals. More than 900 infusion providers are increasingly being used by payers across the country, treating 3.2 million patients annually for the treatment of severe and chronic infections that do not respond to oral antibiotics, such as various types of cancer, gastrointestinal diseases, and disease Crohn and other diseases.
“On-site infusions are not only more convenient and comfortable for patients, but plan sponsors can save up to 60 percent,” said Rich Adams, President and Chief Operating Officer at IPM. “As healthcare costs continue to rise, site-of-care services are part of IPM’s strategy to look beyond traditional avenues and find alternative solutions to contain costs.”
By integrating SOC into pharmacy benefits, IPM improves patient access to medical care and reduces costs. It does this by moving from costly facilities like hospitals and medical facilities to lower cost facilities like doctor’s offices and standalone infusion centers with options for home infusion when the suites are not in the member’s vicinity.
Option Care Health cares for patients in all 50 states and offers affordable, advanced intravenous treatments for a wide range of acute and chronic conditions.
Additionally, through the SOC collaboration with Option Care Health, IPM’s account management team can work with employers to better understand their members’ health needs by exploring data, assisting with usage reviews, and identifying trends for predictive analysis.
SOC centers are becoming a preferred way of treating patients thanks to advanced equipment and knowledgeable staff who specialize in treatment. As a result, SOC optimization is increasingly being used by payers across the country to improve access to care and reduce costs. According to the National Home Infusion Association, it reached the home and specialty infusion industries $ 19 billion and should grow in the years to come.
