Jason Isbell Concert Required COVID-19 Vaccination for Guests – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

People who went to the Jason Isbell concert at Billy Bob in Fort Worth saw some changes on the door. The guest requested by the artist must provide proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test.

“It’s coming like a tidal wave,” said Marty Travis, general manager of Billy Bob. “Whether it’s the Eagles or Maroon 5 or whoever.

Travis said this was part of the process like checking IDs for drinking.

“We’re going to look at this and make reasonable efforts to get people over there in time, and we’re going to review as carefully as possible,” said Travis.

Billy Bob has even partnered with a rapid COVID-19 test company to offer free tests.

Some people are not happy with artists making these changes.

“I want my money back,” said Kimberly Fitts, a Maroon 5 fan and ticket holder for over a year. “

Fitts already bought Maroon 5 tickets for their 2020 concert in 2019. It was canceled due to COVID-19 and postponed to August 16, 2021. But now Maroon 5 is demanding proof of vaccination or negative test results just six days before their concert in Dallas.

“Give the fans some time,” said Fitts. “Give them at least two weeks, maybe three. Don’t do it so quickly if you can’t meet these standards. “

At Billy Bob’s, Travis said the venue is not taking a political stance, just a business.

“Tonight is the litmus test,” said Travis. “Tonight is the night we say ‘Hey, we can do this’ or ‘Man, we got beaten up too badly in the media, with our fans, his fans’ or ‘we … couldn’t handle the operations.’ So tonight is the litmus test to see if we can do it or not and I think we can. “

Live Nation Entertainment, one of the largest concert and ticketing companies in the country, said artists and fans at their venues and festivals must be fully vaccinated against Covid or show a negative test, a spokesman said Friday. The rules will go into effect on October 4th “where permitted by law,” Live Nation said.
