Kitchen + Kocktails by Kevin Kelley set to open in August

Kitchen + Kocktails by Kevin Kelley, the dynamic comfort food concept, will open in August 2021 and is proud to announce the opening of its second US location in Chicago’s River North district. The new restaurant at 444 N. Wabash St. offers upscale home-style cooking and creative craft cocktails paired with an incomparable ambience in a prime downtown location. The restaurant serves lunch, dinner and brunch on the weekends in a lively and fun atmosphere that everyone can enjoy.

The restaurant is very successful in Dallas where it serves southern home cooking and ready-made libations. Kitchen + Kocktails by Kevin Kelley focuses on nicely fried chicken and lobster tails, shrimp and grits, jerk lamb chops, creative waffle dishes and other southern classics with a twist.

“We’re excited to bring a new era of home cooking to Chicago,” said attorney Kevin Kelley, owner of Kitchen + Kocktails by Kevin Kelley. “We hope to provide an all-encompassing dining experience that will make Chicago residents feel like the South has been delivered to beautiful Windy City.”

The Crusader turned to Kelley to learn more about his latest project and why Chicago is a good choice. “I chose Chicago because I wanted to bring the restaurant to a city that I would like to call home. I love the city, the architecture, the restaurants, the ambitions of the professionals and the people in Chicago, ”said Kelley.

He added that he was familiar with the Chicago food scene. “I have eaten in dozens of restaurants in the city and am always amazed at the variety and quality of the concepts in the city. From Jerk Villa to Maple & Ash, Chicago is without a doubt my favorite place to eat in the world. “

Kelley said there had been a flurry of requests to move his restaurant to another city, and the people of Chicago stood out the most for their demand for his food and drink.

A unique dish will be the tomahawk steak, said Kelley. “It is seasoned traditionally, or you can season your steak with a jerk flavor or in our special Asian Hennessy sauce if you wish.”

The new restaurant was also chosen deliberately in the selection of the staff, which will be led by Executive Chef Vanessa Brown. “Our goal is to provide guests with a world-class dining experience while inspiring others in the food and beverage industry to develop and support minority-owned concepts and businesses,” said Kelley. “We hope that the city of Chicago will support that we are not only owned by black people, but that we have assembled a dream team of talent who are as diverse and unique as the city we will serve.”

Kelley said he’ll be hiring about 150 people from Chicago. He said the majority of the Dallas workforce are young and in a minority.

“Most of the young men and women we hired for work and management will never have worked in top Chicago restaurants. As much as we believe in service, we also believe in developing those who need opportunities and work hard for our customers. That’s the most exciting thing about coming to Chicago, the chance to make a difference. “

The robust beverage program offers cocktail specialties with a distinctive, unique presentation. Some of the cocktails contain Black liquors and brands of alcohol.

The 10,000 square meter restaurant with 207 seats will have two bars and a private dining area with 44 seats. Kitchen + Kocktails by Kevin Kelley is open Sunday to Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
