Lindberg Bergman Obituary (1929 – 2021) – Fairbanks, AK

Lindberg Kiyuhlida Bergman was born on January 28, 1929 and died peacefully on August 22, 2021, with his loving daughter Milly Bergman Moses at his side, who sang “Amazing Grace” for him.
Lindberg was born in winter camp on the Oldman River to Billy and Cesa Bergman. He was the youngest son born to them. He had many siblings, some of whom died in infancy. He was 92 years young, the last of the Billy and Cesa Bergman family.
At the age of 16 he met the love of his life, Lydia Koyukuk. He would travel from their family camp on the Oldman River to Grandfather Grafton’s camp with his three dogs. They drove down the hill all day. They married on June 21, 1947.
He and his wife lived a subsistence level. Together they would hunt, catch, and fish as they moved to summer camps from winter to spring to support their families. The two worked together and had 11 children and a stepson.
Lindberg was a man of many talents. He built his own house, lots of boats, snowshoes and sledges.
Like everyone else at the time, he owned a team of dogs as a means of transport for trapping and sports. In his 80s he was still trapping; until then he used a snow machine for transport.
He worked for years at the Hog River mining camp, was a forest firefighter and maintenance man at Allakaket Airport, from which he was retiring.
He was a happy man who always shared his traditional knowledge with everyone. He loved being at Culture Camp, teaching grandchildren, and he had so many stories to tell.
He leaves behind his children Warner B., Marion A., Vincent (Ben) and Valerie B., Agnes B., Sue B-Nickoli, Donald (Ducks) Nickoli, Milly Moses, Henry (Hank) Moses, Delores and Floyd Sr. Saunders; Grandson, Nok / Rita Acker, Leonard (Nik) Acker, Delbert Bergman, Kelly Sweetsir, Dallas / Dorothy Sweetsir, Clinton / Sylvia Bergman, Charlene / Charles Ned, Veronica B., Aaron / Mariah Moses-Bergman, Tiffany / Dylan Ambrose, Cara Ambrose, Tamara / Matt Mayo, Bernice, Donavon and Vincent Nickoli, Cesa and Shaylisa Moses, Floyd Jr., Byron Saunders, Candice / Nate MacDonald, Salone S., Morris S .; and many great-grandchildren.
His wife Lydia preceded him in death; two toddlers, Verna and Billy; Sons, Morris AB, Lindberg DB Jr .; Stepson, Kenneth B .; Sons-in-law, Don Acker and Dennis Sweetsir; and siblings, Edward Bergman, Abraham Oldman and Johnson Moses.
