Local Restaurant Breaks Record for Thanksgiving Orders – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth
During the height of the pandemic, catering companies came to the rescue and provided meals to families whose traditions were turned upside down. This year a locally owned restaurant tells us that business is even better now that people are back at the dining table.
Smokey John’s BBQ in Dallas was one of several North Texas caterers to kick off after family gatherings were canceled.
“So last year we had the small, intimate gatherings,” said co-owner Brent Reaves. “Meals for four, meals for six.”
This year, despite the vaccine reunion and reunion, Thanksgiving orders are still in demand.
Both Juan Reaves and Brent Reaves, co-owner of Smokey John’s, said sales were up 40% over the past year.
“We set records. We have two large family meals, but we are setting records for both the small and large family meals, ”said Juan Reaves. “We have never sold so many while on vacation.”
You have an idea why catering is still so popular. Their guess isn’t scientific, but they believe it has something to do with families maximizing time together this year.
“Maybe they just want to enjoy this time with their families, so they don’t want to do all the work,” said Juan.
The demand was so great that online orders for Thanksgiving meals stopped two days ahead of schedule.
