Loro was such a hit in Dallas, its Austin chefs are opening second North Texas restaurant

North Texas’s second Loro restaurant is expected to open in Addison in the spring of 2022.

The restaurant will move to a well-known Addison address, where the Flying Saucer Draft Emporium served craft beer from 1995 to 2020 before craft beer was cool.

Texas super chefs Aaron Franklin from Franklin Barbecue and Tyson Cole from Uchi opened D-FW’s first Loro in East Dallas in the summer of 2021. Expansion was inevitable, Franklin and Cole said in a Dallas Morning News interview this summer.

“Loro did better than any of us thought,” Franklin said at the time. Take a look at the bustling terrace for dinner at East Dallas Restaurant: It’s one of the most exciting new restaurants of the year in North Texas.

Loro is an Asian smokehouse where Franklin’s smoked beef compliments Cole’s Asian flavors. The pairing makes the grill “a little brighter and fresher,” explains Cole. The restaurant’s top-notch bavette – one of my favorite dishes – is a good example: it’s smoked meat paired with shishito salsa verde, coriander, and pickled onions. It’s light yet smoky, one of those dishes that makes so much sense that you wonder why you’ve never eaten it before.

The Addison restaurant will be Loro’s fourth, following the original in Austin, the newcomer in Dallas and an upcoming Loro, which is expected to open in Houston’s Heights neighborhood in early 2022.

Keep an eye out for this area of Addison that’s booming with new restaurants. There’s a brand new Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, a Mendocino Farms, a La La Land Coffee Shop, and a Shake Shack. Before long, be on the lookout for a restaurant called Brentwood (owned by the Hudson House owners) and a California whiskey and wine restaurant called District.

We’ve said it before: I’ll see you, Addison.

Loro will be at 14999 Montfort Drive in Dallas, Addison. It is scheduled to open in autumn 2022.
