Luxury tower will be downtown Fort Worth’s first new rental high-rise

A developer who has just completed a residential tower in Dallas is ready to begin work on another residential tower in Fort Worth.

Southern Land Co. plans to build its next luxury rental tower on Commerce Street in downtown Fort Worth. The 27-storey building will have 302 residential units with restaurants and retail spaces on the ground floor.

“These will be the first luxury high-rise rentals in downtown Fort Worth and we couldn’t be more excited to have the off-site work underway,” said Tim Downey, Southern Land founder and CEO, in a statement. “We believe this project will attract residents looking for a sophisticated living experience in the heart of the city.

“In addition, we expect it to help attract more transformative projects that will only add to Fort Worth’s vibrant culture and economy.”

The building was designed by GDA Architects from Dallas. The general contractor is Southern Land’s commercial construction team.

Fort Worth’s new tower will include efficient one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments and penthouses.

Nashville-based Southern Land has just completed its Nove at Knox apartment tower on the North Central Expressway in Dallas.

The 19-story building has 310 rental units, with the smallest units renting for nearly $ 1,700 per month.

Southern Land also developed the single-family home community of Tucker Hill in McKinney.

The developer has offices in New York City, Denver, and Northern California and currently has more than $ 2 billion in development underway.
