Macy’s expands Dallas presence with spinoff stores in northern ‘burbs
Macy’s department store chain loves Dallas-Fort Worth and is showing this love with two new spin-off stores.
On the one hand, there is a new location for bargain hunters Macy’s backstage Concept that sells clothes, housewares, shoes, cosmetics and other goods at discount prices. This is the second backstage store in the DFW area and opens on Saturday September 18th in Frisco at The Center at Preston Ridge.
The “off-price” concept offers favorite brands at clear savings with a constantly changing range of trendy items.
The first freestanding backstage store opened at The Village at Allen in May.
The Center of Preston Ridge location will cover more than 21,000 square feet and feature new and renowned brands in men’s, women’s and children’s apparel, toys, housewares, home office, home textiles and decorations, cosmetics, hair and nail care, personal protective equipment ( PPE), pet accessories, children’s shoes, designer handbags and sportswear.
Current trends include denim, backpacks, seasonal looks, home office decor, face masks and hand sanitizers.
The store has an elevated open environment where all the goods on the floor are easily accessible in an efficient full service shopping environment. None of the nooks and crannies you would find in a normal Macy’s.
In a statement, Macy’s VP of Off-Price Michael Hersh said they are thrilled to provide the community with a second freestanding off-mall backstage location that will give customers access to the abundance of the Macy’s brand.
“The opening of an additional freestanding store supports Macy’s commitment to renewing the Dallas-Fort Worth customer-focused retail experience,” said Hersh.
Macy’s Backstage is growing so fast that in 2019 Macy’s opened a Backstage distribution center in Columbus, Ohio, dedicated to shipping goods to Backstage locations nationwide.
Second, Market by Macy’s chain is opening its smaller retail store in Flower Mound in the Highlands of Flower Mound Mall at 6101 Long Prairie Rd. # 500. According to a press release, it will open in the fall.
Market By Macy’s stores are approximately 20,000 square feet and sell “only the best” of Macy’s fashion. This is Macy’s third store on DFW. One in Southlake that opened in February 2020 and a second that opened at the WestBend lifestyle mall in January 2021.
Macy’s Southlake Market is currently under renovation to create a brighter and more open shopping environment.
