Mama Laburn Chicken-N-Waffles: A Family-Rooted Soul Meal | Lifestyle
The origins of Mama La Verne’s Chicken-N-Waffles go back 30 years. It all started when La Verne was traveling from coast to coast to support his family, friends and eventually celebrities. To date, the same recipe has grown into an empire. Her daughter Donna Joiner works with her mother to keep her family traditions alive. A tradition that began in Laburn’s childhood.
“I’ve always been interested in cooking. I came from a family of nine brothers and my mother and father always made sure we could cook. With mom. I watch my father bake cakes, bake chicken and waffles. We always ate with our family. That’s one of the things I’ve always had. “Says La Verne.
Unsurprisingly, LaVerne was able to master the chicken and waffle recipes when her mother learned the recipe and told her about it. “When I saw my mom cook and my family was enjoying the chicken and waffles, when I stopped by my mom and dad after church, we just got together and cooked the home-cooked food. You will enjoy everything, ”says La Verne.
After traveling several times in Texas to see her daughter Donna, the demand for Mama Laburn’s Chicken and Waffles soared. Laburn then taught Donna the winning recipe. “It’s about telling it and making it a family legacy, and that’s what I want Donna to pass on to other generations,” Laburn said.
Donna went on to emphasize that the famous chicken and waffle recipes are all about being with the family. “You come together for this family dinner and bond. You can share traditions. You can create memories. We bring people to the table. I want to bring it back. Have fun again … I want to make this a tradition of meeting people. Our main purpose is to enrich people’s connections through nourishment from the soul. “
Cooking wasn’t a natural interest for Donna, but by the time the chicken and waffle recipes were ready, she gradually became her mother’s sous chef. “I also started learning how to cook other dishes with her (Mama Laburn). Now I can cook quite well. When she gets back to Dallas, she takes the recipe I gave her! “Donna says.
The partnership between Donna and Mama LavVerne took place at the time of the pandemic. “I loved the person who died last April … my mother was very sick. They thought she had Covid but she suffered from severe bronchitis. Then I got injured … It’s been over a year since I started running. You experience a lot and it is your belief in God that really permeates you. Every day my mother and I have each other In this pain and ache of heart, God has allowed us to start this new business, ”says Donna.
She continued. “During the pandemic, I packed the flour mixture in a ziplock bag and sent it to my friends and family in preparation … I actually cooked my love dinner and pub for my friends in Dallas. It’s me. Outside the door they (friends) went on a love ride to pick up a meal or I dropped a love dinner. In the pandemic, it allowed us to do research. What we have done. We were able to create a business plan and find a partner. From packaging to spice companies. We had the best time to take this opportunity but we have a family. I challenged everything. “
Donna and Mama La Verne have faced significant adversity but recently successfully released a new spice and blend on ShopRite. Fans started asking, “Why don’t you have Mama Laburn’s Chicken and Waffles?” And he (ShopRite President and CEO Jeff Brown) contacted me … he gave us a great opportunity. I’ll be back October 5th (in Philadelphia) and I’ll be doing more. We will also send mom’s love dinner to cook for the fire department … this will be done nationwide. “
Mama La Verne’s 2-in-1 Flour Mix and Chicken Seasonings can be used for fried fish, chicken and vegetables, baking and seasoning. An appetizing waffle panque mix is currently available in six stores of the ShopRite and Fresh Grocer Philadelphia franchises. “This is
