Mansfield Summit DE Joseph Adedire
What He Did: Adedire had six tackles, three for loss, with a sack and two extra quarterback pressure, as Summit Colleyville Heritage 21-9 in Class 5A Division I Region I last Friday at the Birdville Fine Arts / Athletics Complex in North Richland defeated Hills. Adedire’s pressure on Colleyville Heritage throws four interceptions, two from Ahmaad Moses. The sack came in with 8:32 remaining, finishing a Colleyville Heritage Drive at the Summit 36-yard line, maintaining a 14-9 lead. Adedire helped Summit avenge a 35:34 loss to Colleyville Heritage in a game in District 4-5A-I on October 15 in Grapevine.
The stats: Adedire made 68 tackles with 20 for loss. He has five sacks, six quarterback pressures, and one interception. He has helped Summit (11-3) advance into a 5A-I state semi-final against College Station (14-0), which ranks 2nd in the Associated Press 5A-I state poll this Friday at Panther Stadium in Hewitt .
Who is he: A 6-foot-2,255-pound defensive end. Adedire verbally committed to TCU in July, choosing the Horned Frogs over many FBS programs, including Georgia Tech, Northwestern, Michigan, Oregon, and Baylor. In 2020, he had 53 tackles of 20 for loss and 10 sacks while helping Summit advance to the state 5A-I semifinals before losing to Denton Ryan.
He said it: “My favorite item on Friday was the sack. After I did it my right arm was dead, but when I got to the sidelines I got a feeling again and was able to celebrate with my teammates. … I stick to a higher standard. I had to be better this year because I’m not just playing for myself. I play for my teammates and you could call the defense a big family. “
Coach said: “He played really big in the fourth quarter on Friday when he got into their backcourt. If he didn’t do the piece, he would make the piece jump and someone else would do the piece. … He’s been a hard worker since the first day he walked on campus. If a trainer tells him to do something, he’ll go 100 percent and make it, ”says Summit trainer Channon Hall.
