Meat-free burger company launches first-ever delivery from 2 North Texas suburbs

Impossible Foods is selling meatless burgers and fries for delivery for the first time in North Texas.

Plant-based eaters can now have Impossible burgers shipped to parts of northern Texas.

Ten plant-based dishes are prepared in the Dog Haus restaurants in Richardson and Arlington and delivered to customers via DoorDash, Postmates, Uber Eats and Grubhub drivers.

The Impossible Shop, as it’s called, is a prime example of a ghost kitchen: it works with an existing restaurant, Dog Haus, to prepare a small menu that will never be consumed on site. All Impossible Shop orders go out the door for delivery.

Dog Haus fitted in because it was one of the first restaurants to add the Impossible Burger to its menu. Compare that to today, and it’s nearly impossible to find a meat-oriented restaurant that doesn’t offer an option for vegans, vegetarians, and plant lovers.

The Impossible Shop selected some competitive – let’s say beefy – states to start with: Arizona, California, Colorado, Illinois, Maryland, New York, Texas, and Wyoming.

Ivan Ramens food is prepared in the Blue Sushi Sake kitchens in Dallas and Fort Worth. Ivan Ramen's business model is an example of how restaurateurs outside the state can sell their food to a D-FW audience.

Impossible products are made from soy protein, potato protein, coconut and sunflower oil, binders, and a “magic ingredient”, heme, which, according to an explainer from Impossible Foods, makes the burgers taste fleshy.

Impossible Shop menu delivery items in Dallas-Fort Worth include:

  • a plant-based burger with plant-based cheese sauce – single or double patty
  • a plant-based chili cheese burger – single or double patty
  • a vegetable patty melt
  • vegetable “chicken” nuggets
  • French fries: smooth, poured with vegetable cheese or coated with vegetable chili cheese
  • a vegetable sausage breakfast burrito
