‘Mi Cocina on the Park’ to Open Soon at Klyde Warren Park – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth
NBC 5 Today got a glimpse of a legendary Tex-Mex restaurant that is opening a new location in Klyde Warren Park.
“Mi Cocina on the Park” has moved into the building, which is surrounded by greenery.
Dallas-based Mi Cocina – owned by the M Crowd Restaurant Group – will be serving its iconic brisket tacos, mambo taxis, and other favorites starting Monday October 18.

“It is great that we are opening this restaurant on our 30th anniversary,” said Edgar Guevara, CEO of the M Crowd Restaurant Group. “It is one of the best known restaurant brands in Dallas, opening in an iconic park in Dallas. It’s just a heavenly marriage. “
Mi Cocina replaces the Savor restaurant, which closed in August 2020 after seven years at this location.
“After receiving feedback from park guests through online surveys and Zoom focus groups, it became clear that Mi Cocina was the overwhelming choice for this special place,” said Kit Sawers, president of Klyde Warren Park, in a statement earlier this year Year.
Mi Cocina recently made a $ 50,000 donation to support Klyde Warren Park’s programs as part of the new partnership.
In the past few months, the 11,000 square meter building has been redesigned by Droese Raney Architecture. The redesign includes a renovated terrace and dining area as well as a separate bar experience for guests.
The design also preserves the building’s original beauty while incorporating unique aspects of Mexican culture, including a custom art installation by artist Luis Sottil.

“Mi Cocina has welcomed generations to our restaurants like family for three decades, and we know this opportunity will allow us to further anchor and invest in our community,” said Guevara.
All furniture, pottery, and decorations were designed specifically for the space by local artisans, including white oak furniture and hand-wrapped concrete planters that bring the park’s landscape into the restaurant.
While the restaurant serves Tex-Mex favorites and famous frozen drinks, it will also have a walk-in, outdoor service window that provides picnic baskets for the folks around Klyde Warren Park.

“Successful restaurants are the driving force behind many parks around the world, including Central Park in New York and Millennium Park in Chicago,” said Sawers. “We’re excited to bring two iconic Dallas brands together in Mi Cocina and Klyde Warren Park and offer our guests exceptional Tex-Mex cuisine while enjoying breathtaking views of the park.”
This restaurant marks the 22nd location of Mi Cocina.
