Mixed-use project will surround landmark Uptown Dallas building

Developer Hines has revealed plans for one of the Uptown Dallas landmarks.

Houston-based real estate firm bought the 96-year-old Maple Terrace Apartments on Maple Avenue near Turtle Creek last year.

Hines plans to use the historic building as an anchor for a new mixed-use project that will include a high-rise apartment building, restaurants and office space.

The project is being built in partnership with Mitsui Fudosan America – the US subsidiary of Japan’s largest real estate company – and McNair Interests, based in Houston.

The 22-storey residential tower with 345 units is being built behind the historic building. GFF designed the skyscraper.

“We are honored to transform this Dallas landmark into a multi-faceted uptown travel destination,” said Hines CEO Ben Brewer in a statement. “The timeless architecture of Maple Terrace is celebrated and combined with cutting-edge design, luxurious amenities and dining options to create a place that everyone can experience.”

Dallas-based architect 5G Studio Collaborative was working on the project that will convert the seven-story Maple Terrace building into office space. The top of the historic building will be extended by two floors with glass offices.

12,000 square feet of restaurant space will be built along Maple Avenue. Chicago’s Maple & Ash steakhouse will move into the dining room when it opens in 2023.
