National Roller Coaster Day: What it’s like to ride the ‘most anticipated’ coaster of 2021
If you haven’t been on a roller coaster this summer, was it really summer?
To celebrate National Roller Coaster Day on August 16, FOX News would like to take you with them. Universal Orlando’s Jurassic World VelociCoaster was named the “Most Awaited” Roller Coaster of 2021 by Coaster 101 and beats screaming thrill rides across the United States. According to Universal Orlando, Jurassic World VelociCoaster is now the fastest and tallest launch coaster in Florida.
Located on Universal’s Islands of Adventure, the VelociCoaster is the newest addition to Jurassic Park, where visitors come face-to-face with life-size dinosaurs. Set in a dinosaur habitat, the attraction was designed by the Universal Creative team in collaboration with the makers of the Jurassic World films, including Steven Spielberg, Colin Trevorrow and Frank Marshall.

As part of the content created exclusively for the new ride, the movie’s original cast – Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard and BD Wong – slip into their roles as Owen Grady, Claire Dearing and Dr. Henry Wu.
Faithful to their movie characters are Claire and Dr. Wu is excited about bringing guests close to the Velociraptors as part of the roller coaster, while Owen believes otherwise. Drivers are immersed in a tale starring the Velociraptor pack – Blue, Charlie, Delta, and Echo – and the attraction’s timeline takes place just before the events of the first Jurassic World film.

Claire has already given the go-ahead for the development of the Indominus Rex, but it appears that there has been a delay. With the Velociraptors showing signs of intelligence and responding to Owen Grady’s orders, Claire has designed a new ride – a roller coaster in the middle of a Raptor paddock.
Surrounded by 6,000 square feet of rock walls, a giant waterfall, and lush jungle vegetation, Jurassic World VelociCoaster catapults guests over a 1,700-meter pulsating route, 155 meters into the air at 110 miles per hour. The highlight is a spiral 360 degree inversion, inches above the lagoon. The attraction has four inversions with only one lap bar.
