Start of construction is on Maple terrace, a new mixed-use development in Uptown Dallas that will house a Chicago-grown steakhouse along with office space, a luxury apartment block and various outdoor facilities.
The project comes from Hines, an international real estate company, together with partners Mitsui Fudosan America and McNair Interests and is expected to open in 2023.
The centerpiece will be Maple Terrace, a centuries-old apartment building at 3001 Maple Ave. that housed celebrities such as Judy Garland, Dean Martin, Elvis Presley and Liza Minnelli. Hines bought the building in 2020 from Exxir Capital of Dallas, which had owned it since 2010.
The seven-story building from 1925 is being carefully restored by Dallas-based architects 5G Studio Collaborative, while behind it two new glazed levels with an open-air rooftop lounge and terrace and a nine-story glass facade system are being created overlooking a 9,000-square-meter city garden.
Hines CEO Ben Brewer said in a statement that the company is honored to transform this Dallas landmark into a multi-faceted uptown travel destination.
“The timeless architecture of Maple Terrace is celebrated and combined with cutting edge design, luxurious amenities and dining options to create a place that everyone can experience,” says Brewer.
The offices on Maple Terrace will feature spacious floor plans with ceilings up to 17 ‘and amenities such as a lobby lounge and library bar, fitness center, boardroom, Trackman golf simulator, valet parking, and lush green spaces including a park and garden lounge for special events.
The location also offers walking access to restaurants, shops, and hotels, as well as recreational facilities such as the Katy Trail and Reverchon Park.
Adjacent to the offices is located The residences on Maple Terrace, a 22-story residential tower with 345 luxury apartment buildings between 601 and 2,879 square meters and its own amenities such as a fitness center, a pool terrace, an outdoor dog park and a winter garden on the 22nd floor and a roof terrace. The parking spaces include a partially underground, seven-story garage.
Maple Terrace will also be home to. be Maple & ash, the steakhouse of the Chicago hospitality group What If Syndicate, with plans for another restaurant.
